Doctoral welcome reception
This will take place on Tuesday 06 October 16:00 - 18:30 in the Claverton Rooms.
Join us for an opportunity to meet representatives from doctoral groups and central services, hear from members of our University community, and connect with fellow new doctoral researchers. Enjoy drinks and sweet treats while networking and discovering the support available to you throughout your doctoral journey.
Following the Welcome Reception, The Students' Union will be holding a doctoral mixer event until 20:00 on the ground floor of the The Edge. .
Welcome workshops
A series of 6 workshops to help you get started on the essentials. Attendance is mandatory at these workshops.
These sessions will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the topics.
Each session is has different options, to allow flexibility. You should only book and attend one of each session.
Workshop 1: Establishing expectations in supervision:

Your supervisor is one of the most important resources provided to you by the University to support you to complete your research successfully. Getting the supervisory relationship off to a good start is essential in a doctorate programme, requiring clarification of roles, expectations, responsibilities and behaviours.
Workshop 2: Preparing for agreement of expectations (candidature):

This session will provide information and guidance on starting your doctorate programme at the 性视界. It will also involve guidance on completing your agreement of expectations form, and will help you to conduct an initial review of your current and required skills in relation to the Researcher Development Framework (RDF). This will help you to identify which development activities to engage with during your doctorate and what to list on your agreement of expectations form.
